SUSTAINABLE STORMWATER MANAGAEMENT

WHEN IT RAINS, IT DRAINS ……Urban drainage is an integral part of the road infrastructure network. Our traditional approach of drainage has not generally been designed with sustainability in mind, and most of them have paid insignificant regard to effective catchment flood control, water quality management, water resources, amenity, or bio-diversity requirements. (Woods Ballard, et al., 2007). With time we have also realized that our grey infrastructure alone cannot cope up with the challenges of climate change. Blue-green infrastructure is a viable solution for it.WHEN IT DRAINS, IT MUST PERCOLATE ......To maintain the natural hydrological cycle, rainwater must be allowed to infiltrate enabling groundwater recharge.
