MESO LEVEL INTERVENTION & MULTI-MODAL HUB DESIGN

“Why are cities the way they are?” “What are the different layers of the Spatial Structure of a City?” “Can a City exhibit a single identity?”
When Cities Grow they become city regions. The need for land use transport integration has been long recognised. However, transportation plans in India are typically prepared separately from land use plans and coordinating land use transport decisions become difficult. This often results in inefficient development and transportation proposals deal with problems arising thereof and are therefore reactive in nature. The mobility needs of Ahmedabad ? Gandhinagar region is expected to grow rapidly in the next 20 years. The dynamic nature of the region is attracting large investments in and around Ahmedabad. Connecting the city to its inner cores and fringes, extending to other city regions and further the outside world, Ahmedabad requires combinations of Transportations modes which can boost up its economy and contribute to the safer movement of people and goods.
The project proposes a Multi-modal Interchange Hub, in the Sabarmati, Ranip & Kali wards of Ahmedabad City with Intervention at three Levels: Meso, Influence Area & Core Project Area. The already existing BRTS stations, GSRTC terminal, AMTS Routes and proposed Metro Stations with a terminal proposed for upcoming HSR (connecting Mumbai & Ahmedabad), will transform the face of Sabarmati in the near future. The proposed Multi-modal Interchange hub can be visualised as "A gateway to the City- Driver of regional economic Development."
