A street is the basic unit of urban space through which people experience a city. They have the power to catalyze change in neighborhoods, to enhance, protect and improve the existing context. For many years, streets have been built for automobiles, with wide lanes for automobiles and little space for people. Jamalpur has narrow organic streets, with little importance given to pedestrians. The area experiences immense congestion on streets as it is a commercial center. The Jamalpur road is the main heritage axis that connects the ASI monuments. A majority of the ill-functioning streets in Jamalpur fail as, they are designed from the centerline outwards, giving priority to motorized vehicles. The insufficient, leftover space is allocated for parking, pedestrians, trees, vending and lights.
