The project of redevelopment in Gurukul Road, was taken to unleash the potential of the urban land, which can accommodate much more people in an efficient manner. Extensive studies were done to understand the feasibility of the project in the micro market. Stake holder interest was seen as a key driver to this project, to arrive at the product mixes, deals for the users, the configuration on the blocks and the facilities available for them.Hence the urban parcel which housed approximately 1000 units is envisioned to house 1700 in the same area, in a win-win situation for the investors as well as the residents. This project highlights the fact that our cities are in dire need for redevelopment of the brownfield areas under developmental pressure, and looks at a financially and spatially viable model towards the same.
