Increase in migrants, prevailing housing shortage and the unaffordability of ownership housing with considerations into the future urban expansion of Rajkot, has increased the demand for rental accommodation. Rajkot holds a potential rental housing market considering the current trends. Rental housing is an important part of the studio for the goal of expanding housing choices for all. The alternatives/reforms offered as part of this studio will help in increasing the supply and affordability of formal decent rental units with regulation in the rental housing market that provide adequate supply of rental units to bridge the gap of housing shortage.
