Groundwater Management And Regulation

Groundwater is the world's largest usable freshwater source. Across India, the groundwater levels in many cities have decreased significantly with Ahmedabad, Gujarat being one of the most dependent cities on groundwater leading to the city being water stressed in the future. This study aims to regulate the use of groundwater in Ahmedabad City through bottom up approach. This will be carried out by monitoring the groundwater through a participatory approach at residential and institutional areas of identified critical wards. The groundwater will then be managed by recharging it through rainwater harvesting in those areas by providing incentives.
