Water - Sensitive Development Plan for Surat

Water-sensitive development plan for Surat started with detailed research on its rivers, stormwater issues, and water-insensitive areas. Using global benchmarks, the report highlighted disparities, comparing Surat with other cities. Analyzing city documents revealed challenges and chances for water-sensitive growth. However, discrepancies existed between plans and actual implementation; Surat's Development Plan 2035 allows construction in water bodies and lacks buffers between rivers and homes. Such practices erode Surat's water sensitivity, risking floods. it shows the need for effective water management in Surat. Implementing a water-sensitive development plan can safeguard Surat from floods and degradation caused by current development practices.
