The Daman Ganga River's riparian edge is home to many bird and animal species that depend on the unique habitat conditions formed at various points along the river. The aim of this project is to establish a continuous riparian corridor along the Damanganga River to prevent habitat fragmentation. The project will also weave people-centric spaces with the various zones of vegetation that will be preserved as the riparian corridor.

Transect Study; Landing (First Impressions of the Site): The illustration captures elements that helped in comprehending the Damanganga River as one continuous entity.

Transect Study; Grounding (Site Documentation): Documenting Land Use along the river.

Transect Study; Grounding (Site Documentation): Studying 50m x 50m patches along the river to understand different edge conditions.

Finding (Observations and Analysis): Exploring complex habitats and identifying various such scenarios along the stretch of the river.

Founding (Design Strategies): The main aim here, was to propose conceptual strategies for the entire stretch of the river to achieve a continuous riparian corridor.

Scenario 1: Biodiversity Park (RETAIN): This design demonstrates how to design in and around an area with existing biodiversity, while simultaneously accommodating existing activities.

Zone 2: Riverfront Park. This design proposal attempts to demonstrate how pockets of lively public spaces can be created within existing dense vegetation without disturbing the ecology of the area.

Zone 3: Remediation Park; This proposal aims to remediate a deranged landscape by using techniques constructing swales, forming berm islands (biodiversity mounds) and introducing elements like fallen logs and large rocks.
