Aerotropolis Infrastructure Project Development Studio

This course aims to introduce the students to the broad practices of contemporary urban planning through simulating professional practices. The students are to learn about and critique the role and responsibilities of plans, planners and planning process; to reflect upon issues, practices and policies that exist, consider the role of ethics and values, and incorporate decision making in the planning process. The studio exercise exposes the students to the four main components of the process- ideas, research, plan making and implementation. Students are supposed to engage in field- based work across the city of Surat, exploring the issues related to airport and surrounding land. Students interact with various stakeholders, including public officials, private developers. Each exercise ends with a formal presentation, reviewed to incorporate missing communications and visual representation.
