Kishor Udham (for children at King's tomb)

The aim of the project was to transform the potential areas to play areas and gathering spaces for children, residents and visitors. These areas were identified through cartography and detailed study of the site. All the children living around the King’s tomb are restricted in the square (the area around the tomb), for exposure, different structures and unique elements have been designed. The different levels in each gives them a sense of adventure and creativity. All the structures can be used by all the different parties visiting or living near the king’s tomb.

The narrative cartography talks about the activities of children and the challenges that they face. King’s tomb and its periphery is a heavily contested area at all times rendering it difficult for children to play at.

As the site is situated between Manek chowk and Jami Masjid and is the birthplace of Ahmad Shah, it is of great importance but due to a large number of population residing around it and also inside it, it loses its charm and historical significance. The site has multiple factors that affect the importance of the heritage monument. The 3-d view shows all those small to large scale factors.

Several potentials spaces were identified through cartography and close study of the site and various interventions were inserted. Some comparatively more important than the others. The play structures are primarily for the children but are easy to access by the adults too. The tea shop has been designed by keeping in mind the needs of the visitors and tourists. The different plinth levels are too restrict parking and storage. The three types of seatings are for the residents and visitors accord

The aim was to transform the potential areas to play spaces and gathering spaces for residents and visitors. The above plan shows the interventions and cartography of children in the transformed space.
