Sakhi-SEWA Mandal

‘Sakhi-SEWA Mandal’ is proposed for married women who are the heart of their families who depend on them. When women are empowered, their families are uplifted and this results in the betterment of the whole village. Earlier, the main occupations in Ambli were farming, pottery, and labor work. These no longer yield incomes and have adversely affected the community’s financial condition. The menfolk of Ambli are trying to deal with this and parallelly the women of the village have also tried to support them. Through their income from tailoring, teaching, cooking, etc. My project acknowledges this entrepreneurial spirit in the women of Ambli and believes it is the key to supporting the economy and identity of the village. By converting these skills and knowledge to an employment opportunity for women, the project indirectly provides support to the whole village. My strategic response comprises the ‘Embroidery Workshop’ that can create occupation opportunities, ‘Tailoring Workshop’ & ‘Papad Making Workshop’ can turn their skills into small industries that allow women to earn through their skills. Locations for centres are arrived at through consultation with women and help develop appropriate networks within the village. Having ‘SEWA’ & ‘Lijjat’ as organizations help improve the mental health of working women. Also as investors they can play a role as they have a chance to develop a production unit with skilled women that can help raise the funds for them as they already have leading brands in the market with a great perspective.
