In-Situ Slum Redevelop, Upgrade and Relocation

The Studio focused on understanding Surat’s housing and real estate sector through situational assessment, strategy development, and city investment planning. The assessment provided an overview of existing conditions by analyzing government assets and micro market study. Based on the Housing ladder , the studio proposed strategies focusing on In-situ redevelopment, slum upgrade, and relocation of untenable slums to improve housing for the urban poor. These strategies were shaped by land ownership patterns and relevant housing policies. The studio also included viability assessments and policy reform suggestions, with programs like SNP and cool roofing aimed at enhancing conditions for low-income communities.
