Trash Transformed

Improper waste disposal is an evident yet often neglected issue in our country, and the settlement of Vanjaravas is no exception, suffering the significant community-wide consequences of this problem majorly due to the absence of waste management infrastructure and facilities and lack of awareness . Waste accumulation poses threats to both public health and the environment, including water contamination, noxious gas emissions, and the spread of vector-borne diseases, leading to underutilization of open spaces. Trash Transformed seeks to address this challenge by breaking the linear cycle of waste and mainstreaming a circular and on site management of waste. The project implementation focuses on a two-phase approach: firstly, cleaning up legacy waste, and subsequently, establishing daily waste management operations with door-to-door collection. Organic waste will be composted at identified decentralized locations, further used for plantation and kitchen gardening; and inorganic waste will be meticulously segregated, with recyclables providing income opportunities. This initiative aims to raise awareness, promote sustainable practices, and foster community engagement in Vanjaravas's waste management for lasting impact.
