The objective of the studio spring 2019 was to understand Urban mobility planning and process involved. The studio framework was divided into three levels. Level 1 includes review of existing transportation plan across India and abroad. The objective was to learn different methodologies involved in existing situation analysis. It also help in gaining insights of proposal formulation. Level 2 involved extensive data collection of the case study city of Vadodara to analyse the transport and socio economic characteristic of the city. By this level we the students learned existing situation analyses and interpreting and analyzing data sets. Third and the last level of the course structure was to develop alternate scenario based on growth projections and evaluate the feasibility of growth scenario with one another. Project costing, financing and phasing are also few key learnings of the course. This portfolio can broadly be divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces Vadodara, its regional importance, study area undertaken and the economy of the city. It elaborates on the economic drivers within and outside the city and thus explain how Vadodara can be a strong economic stronghold for the future 2040. Thus the next chapter explains about the goal of the vision and the issues addressed for present as well as future. Public Transport being the major catalyst has been studied in detail. Existing analysis of public transportation addressing the present operational characteristics and key issues has been identified in a problem solving approach and giving proposal for Vadodara 2040. The last chapter includes the key learning from the studio as a whole.
