STRATEGIC TRANSPORTATION PLAN - VADODARA

Vadodara, formerly known as Baroda is the third largest city of the Gujarat state. An important industrial, cultural and educational hub of western India, the city houses several institutions of national and regional importance such as Maharaja Siyaji Rao University while its major industries include petrochemicals, engineering, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc. The portfolio aims to have a brief understanding of study area and city on the basis of its population, employment, built up and land use in the current scenario. It also looks to the factors upon which the future growth will be determined and based upon. And thus devising the area on which one needs to focus upon while proposing the solutions. While looking at the current issues, we set our vision for city in 2040 to make the city, safe, accessible by integrating the modes and eco-friendly methods to the proposals. While working for proposals for new developed areas it is equally important to improve the existing network so that it can cater to the demands of the future till 2040. Special attention is given to the core city area of Mandvi, which is a major commercial zone of the city and a try is given to revive its original identity of pedestrian friendly market. Finally a comparision is made between the existing situation and our proposed scenario, which shows the current congestion of 56% can be reduced to 23% with the help of our proposals. Thus, we can say Vadodara does not have any major issue except the connectivity and unreliable public transport, but if not looked upon now seriously the condition is going to magnify in the future and thus failing the current transportation system of the city.
