A strategic transportation plan for Vadodara was developed by analyzing the existing transportation scenario w.r.t the socio economic character, landuse,travel pattern and identifying the challenges to formulate long term visions, goals and objectives for a desirable city. It includes developing scenarios by envisaging future social, economic and environmental growth. Proposals,strategies, potential improvements and policies are developed to address the issues. Urban freight transport is crucial for the economic development of cities and for ensuring the population’s quality of life. The externalities caused by this activity need to be known, monitored and reduced. Vadodara being an industrial centre , faces challenges with respect to the freight movement. Freight accidents in Vadodara has increased by 3% in the past two years and the city lacks parking provisions for freight, infrastructure facilities and regulations. The portfolio summarizes a detailed study of the existing challenges and to address these issues, proposals including management measures, policy measures, and facilities are provided.
