While having group discussions with middle aged women and mapping their perceptions of Ambli spaces, I developed a concern regarding their lack of awareness about their own physical and mental well being. As a daughter myself, I have the same concern about my mother. This concern formed the aim of this project: to address women’s health and awareness and to inspire them to establish their individual identity in the gaam. Initial stage of the proposed project is to approach the residents in order to raise awareness about the relevance of such center and to unify efforts towards it. Further the project proposes to establish a platform (centre) to create a friendly environment where women can share their thoughts, issues and concerns openly. Seminars and informal talks will be held in the centre to raise awareness and increase knowledge about well being. Location and access to the intervention responds to a concern raised during interviews, limiting the access for other users. Openness in thoughts and interactions will help them to break the social barriers of communities plus give them strength to be independent. Overall women’s health will impact their families and village as a whole and establish their association deeper with the gaam.
