From Conflict to Confluence : Reclaiming Urban Nodes

The project focuses on the redevelopment of Manek Chowk’s street, driven by the fruit market’s influence as a cultural and economic anchor. Despite its historic significance, the market suffers from poor visibility and disconnection from the street, forcing vendors outside and disrupting pedestrian flow. The proposal aims to reconnect the market with the street, enhancing its visibility and integration. By addressing existing street collisions—points where vehicles, vendors, and pedestrians intersect unsystematically—the design transforms these into hierarchical nodes of interaction. This approach fosters seamless movement, enriches vendor-pedestrian engagement, and leverages the market’s vibrancy to drive cohesive, adaptable street development.
