Feasibility Study of Mass Rapid Transit System - Rajkot

This portfolio showcases a project undertaken in the third semester of the Master’s program in Urban Transport Systems, focusing on designing an integrated bus-based transit system for Rajkot. The study began with an analysis of mass rapid transit (MRT) modes, evaluating their suitability for urban contexts. Rajkot’s existing transport scenario and future projections were assessed, emphasizing bus-based transit. Key tasks included analyzing travel demand using EMME modelling, identifying BRTS corridors, rationalizing RMTS routes, and conducting feasibility studies. The project proposed two scenarios-independent and integrated operations -culminating in an integrated system design with detailed planning for networks, stations, depots, and terminals.
