Discerning Hauz Rani Village

The project explores the intersection of two major issues in the city of Delhi : women’s safety in public spaces and lack of identity for urban villages. The project is envisioned to explore the available opportunities within the village, like vacant land, parks, junctions, and landmark buildings, to reclaim public spaces for women. The organic inter-dependence of existing activities within the village is enhanced by infusing necessary women-centric functions to create a ripple effect, consequently developing a legible pedestrian network of active streets. The implementation of the project is envisioned as a piecemeal with unique precinct-led placemaking projects.
