Re-Imagining Sabarmati Railway Land

With the Transit Oriented Zone regulations in place, the city now aims to develop denser urban cores along the transit lines in the City to control urban sprawl, and encourage use of public transit. The Local Area Plan Proposal for Wadaj is located along the 132 ft ring road in the city of Ahmedabad, connecting to cities like Gandhinagar and Kalol in the North and S.G. Highway and University area on the West. The LAP approach for the delineated site aims to capitalise on the existing assets and available public land, to develop urban voids as vibrant public open spaces amidst the dense urban settlement, therefore improving the accessibility of the area and guiding the upcoming development to ensure a harmonious built and open space environment for improved quality of life.
