Elements of Urban Design: Streets and Urban Blocks

This studio explores how urban design can transform everyday public spaces by reimagining two distinct urban corridors in Ahmedabad. The first project redesigns a 600m stretch of Relief Road into a pedestrian-friendly, transit-integrated street that balances heritage, commerce, and mobility through widened footpaths, green buffers, and organized vending. The second project reclaims a 1.64 km stretch along the Kharicut Canal, transforming it into a multifunctional blue-green NMT spine with plazas, markets, parks, and community spaces. Together, the projects emphasize inclusive, context-driven design that activates edges, enhances livability, and integrates infrastructure with social and ecological systems.
