The studio explores the fundamentals of urban design through three structured and interconnected exercises that build upon each other. The first project involved a detailed mapping and analysis of the JM Road, Pune case study of the existing urban fabric, focusing on spatial patterns, street sections, and building typologies. This process helped in understanding how the built environment shapes public life and contributes to the character of a place. The second project focused on redesigning a transit street, where I analyzed issues such as walkability, congestion, and vendor encroachment, and developed a context-responsive design that improved mobility, accessibility, and social interaction. The final project addressed an urban block beneath a flyover, identifying its potential as an underutilized public space. The design intervention transformed it into a vibrant, multi-functional space through strategic programming, landscape integration, and spatial reorganization. Together, these exercises offered a comprehensive approach to urban design, merging analysis, observation, and creative problem-solving to enhance connectivity, usability, and the overall quality of public spaces.
