VEJALPUR : BALANCING URBAN GROWTH WITH FUSING TRADITION

Vejalpur is located in the western part of Ahmedabad, it is surrounded by residential and commercial areas and with many public utilities. It connects the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway and it also connects to the 132 ft ring road. As it was a village earlier, the precinct looks more community-oriented, the environment or the organization of the area was village-like, so still that character can be seen, through the building typology, public spaces, and the roads. Houses seen in Vejalpur are low-rise or mid-rise, recently there have been upcoming or new high-rise projects. But in the south part of the precinct which has a gamtal area, the majority of houses are gated communities which are low-rise houses, and the placement of the houses is very organic.
