From Walled city to Old city - Dariyapur,Ahmedabad

Dariyapur is a historic precinct in the walled city of Ahmedabad with a rich cultural and architectural heritage. It exhibits a transition from Walled to Old-city bringing in a cultural, historical and economical shift. Its narrow, winding lanes are lined with traditional pol houses, each with its own unique story. Mixed-use buildings line the periphery of the streets with fine integration of other land-uses making it more efficient. The walled-city is characterized by densely located clusters forming a coarse grain pattern. While the old city is comparatively developed in the later times where the land-use pattern is more scattered. Informal economic activities, such as street vendors also play a significant role in boosting the economy.
