Bapunagar: Perceptions and Spatial Analysis

The precinct of Bapunagar is a major node of Ahmedabad, located northward of the city. It was established in the early 1960’s, a few kilometers from Old Ahmedabad as a part of the then expanding and thriving Industrial Zone.

The area of Bapunagar played a key role in the development of the city, engaging in a variety of trade and industrial activities to sustain itself. Today the precinct is a multi-cultural neighborhood, where the streets are lined with roadside cloth merchants, reminiscent of old times. This exercise aims to thoroughly understand the layers integral to the area of Bapunagar.
