Originally an agricultural area, it witnessed a transformation as industrial growth attracted a diverse set of communities, including migrant laborers from regions like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, seeking employment in the expanding industrial sector. This influx spurred residential developments and a demand for services, resulting in the area's shift toward a mixed-use urban fabric combining both industrial and residential land uses. As the industrial landscape grew, Vastral saw significant changes in its built form, especially after the introduction of the TP Scheme in the 2000s, which facilitated the construction of high-rise apartments. These residential developments have altered the social fabric, introducing both institutional and commercial spaces. Despite good connectivity, the absence of pedestrian infrastructure limits walkability, impacting the area's vibrancy during off-peak hours. The area experiences a high footfall during peak commuting hours and temple ceremonies, but the mid-day period remains quiet.
