Shreyas Flyover is a prominent flyover located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It serves as a crucial link between various areas in the city, specifically connecting the Shreyas area to other parts of Ahmedabad. The flyover was constructed to alleviate traffic congestion in the region, providing a smoother passage for vehicles and reducing travel time for commuters. The area under the bridge is quiet and mostly residential but feels somewhat unsafe at night due to its isolation. There’s only one way onto the walking track, which keeps people out. It’s mostly residential with a few houses turned into clinics or shops. There are no sidewalks for pedestrians. The aim of the studio was give proposal for redevelopment of the dead patch beneath the flyover and convert it into an open public space. My aim and approach for the design was to generate activity in the area and making it inviting for people so that becomes a safer and better healthy neighbourhood. One of the main strategies of my design was introduce commercial patches in the space under the flyover to promote more activity.
