Our aim was to develop competencies to make a strategic Urban Mobility Plan of Mahesana -2027. We have carried out surveys to understand about the city and developed urban mobility plan for Mahesana. 

Mahesana Town, one of the major commercial and trade centre in North Gujarat and also a taluka as well as district head quarter. The SH 41 from Ahmedabad to Palanpur passes through Mahesana as well as the SH 56 being developed as High Speed Corridor pass through Mahesana. Mahesana is also connected with Modhera, Bechraji, Radhanpur, Unjha, Sidhpur, Patan, Visnagar, Vijapur etc. by roads. 

As per Census 2011 figures, Mehsana has a population of 2,36,733 and hence it is a Class A municipality. The study area is 118 sq.km which is the delineated area having maximum land under agriculture and residential use. 

Mahesana has a kind off mono-centric city form where all the commercial as well as institutional activities happen in centre of city where most of the trips are attracted.

Mahesana and its surrounding area have numbers of places of religious, historical as well as archaeological importance. In Mahesana town, there are important temples viz. Toranvali Mata, the Brahmni Mata, the Ambaji Mata, the Somnath Mahadev and the jain temples.

Besides, due to wide spread activities of ONGC in North Gujarat area, Mahesana had got more importance in the development in this area. Dudhsagar Dairy is also established in Mahesana town since long. As a result, animal husbandry as well as milk production have been widely developed in the surrounding areas of Mahesana. Tertiary Sector plays an important role and employees lot of people.

In view of such development, people of this area have got more opportunities of job for uplift of their economical as well as social status.
