The main idea of the project ‘Riverfront Precinct Transformation’ revolves around how the stagnated growth of walled city can be channelized with the introduction of new city-level infrastructure projects like Metro rail and Sabarmati Riverfront. The project aims to form connections between the walled city and the river. It attempts to enhance the pedestrian experience towards the river and make a walkable network around it. The general idea of 'untouchable heritage' for its conservation is broken and a guided transformation is explored. An active integration of the heritage structures in people’s daily interactions is attempted.
