A Domicile

This Studio explains the steps involved in creating a sustainable design. Students were given the task of investigating the definition and application of sustainability across a range of industries. In the following stage, the students carried out a microclimate analysis. During that experiment, we discovered how the surrounding environment impacts a neighborhood's temperature, humidity, solar gain, solar energy, operating temperature, and thermal comfort. We then measured our house manually to determine how well it performs thermally and how the building's architecture influences the building envelope. Software like IESVE was introduced to compare manual readings with software-based calculations.
In the meantime, we were given Aurangabad City, which has a Hot and Dry Climate. We were required to research its climate to construct a home for an artist that takes into account all of the advantages and disadvantages of the city's environment. In conclusion, this studio helped me refine my design thinking, how I choose building techniques and procedures, and how I choose materials according to climate.
