Rapid urbanization un-doubtly increases pressure on urban infrastructure and services, much of which have not sustainably been provided to muddle through with rapid urban growth; thus, resulting to poor urban service delivery including uncollected solid waste in most of the Point of Interest’s in south zone wards in Ahmedabad. Thus solid waste management is the important crisis in such densely populated ward. GIS tools is used in decision-making in route optimization and Integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) present a platform to capture, map, and analyze the ward data. This study deals with optimization of routes for door to door garbage collection van in south zone using ArcGIS network analyst. Network Analyst has been done and analyzed to identify all the possible routes using ArcGIS. Further in each wards optimized route for door-to-door garbage collections van are evaluated for different criteria such as Distance and time consumption factor, outline the workflow and best practices for future analysis throughout the south zone of Ahmedabad.
