This project aims to predict future forest cover changes in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai. Using satellite imagery and machine learning models like Random Forest & Support Vector Machine with CA Markov for the prediction of land use change.
The study identifies areas at risk of deforestation or potential reforestation by analyzing land use changes from past years and key factors such as distance from roads, urban growth, and other disturbances along the edge of the forest area.
The results will help align predictions for better urban planning and conservation efforts to protect urban forests. To protect and maintain such a protected eco-sensitive zone, a predictive model can be helpful.
