IDL and WBD | MONSOON SEMESTER 2024

The IDL & WBD studio focused on improving energy efficiency for a 12-story healthcare OPD building in Lucknow, U.P., by integrating passive and active strategies  and energy efficiency. A basecase ECBC 2017-compliant design was enhanced with improvements to the envelope, HVAC systems, and operations, guided by the city’s climate and cooling demands. Renewable energy system integration was explored via rooftop solar panels, and Life-Cycle and Cost-Benefit Analyses validated the proposed strategies. The final design optimized energy performance, unmet hours, HVAC size, and costs over a 50-year lifespan.
