During the 3rd semester of the MBEP program, I delved into the Lighting and Integrated Design Lab (IDL) and Whole Building Design (WBD) modules, which offered a thorough and systematic approach to building energy efficiency. Over a span of 16 weeks, I acquired hands-on experience in crucial areas such as daylighting, electric lighting, passive design strategies, HVAC systems, and energy modeling techniques. Engaging in practical design exercises, I translated theoretical knowledge into actionable solutions, resulting in the creation of a building compliant with energy codes. This process enabled me to integrate scientific methodologies with optimization strategies and cost-effectiveness analyses. The experience provided a holistic perspective on energy-efficient design and its application in real-world scenarios, equipping me with the skills to address complex challenges in sustainable building practices.
