Structural Wave is a steel roof canopy designed for Khodiyar Railway Station in Ahmedabad. The form is inspired by the natural curves of a closed seashell and follows the structural logic of an inverted bending moment. The project began with site documentation and case studies of similar steel roof structures. The design was developed through multiple iterations and tested using STAAD for structural safety. It uses a system of columns, rafters, purlins, and two-dimensional trusses with lateral bracing. Uniform section sizes were chosen for ease of construction. The final structure brings together form and function in a simple method.
