Design of Water and Sewage Treatment Plant

The studio focuses on constructing and analyzing treatment facilities in underserved areas of India. With 70% of the country lacking proper water, sewage, and grey water treatment, the design challenge involves reusing and recycling reclaimed water. Students learn about unit calculations for specific processes, with each plant uniquely designed based on natural contours for efficient gravitational flow. Sewage treatment processes like A2O, SBR, MBBR, and DEWATS are assigned for peer and individual learning, aiming to remove harmful substances. Understanding bid documents and estimating costs for given flow and processes are integral aspects of the studio’s approach.
