Urban Transformation of Dharmaj-Tracing Family Histories

The project looks at the urban transformation of Dharmaj, a village shaped by the locals and the diaspora community that migrated to South Africa at the beginning of the 20th century for employment and education eventually. The study intends to understand the transformation of the village by tracing the histories of particular families from the village, identifying narratives of different sections of people who are making the village and juxtaposing the same, to bring out specific layers of the evolution.
