As part of the concluding task for the Photography elective, we were tasked with selecting a subject from the options of a product, a building, an artist, or an urban scenario. It is crucial to comprehend the principles of composition to craft a narrative within each photograph. This involves a deep understanding of the chosen product, including its materials, surface quality, etc. The planning phase should encompass strategies to enhance the product's presentation, involving the creation of preliminary sketches for a clearer vision before the actual shoot. If necessary, appropriate accessories should be incorporated, and both natural and artificial light sources must be judiciously employed.
For my final assignment, I opted to capture the essence of a product. After considerable contemplation, I decided to focus on photographing a pair of shoes, specifically a set of checkered Vans sneakers from the "Off The Wall" collection. Vans, synonymous with the ethos of being "Off The Wall," signifies a distinctive state of mind characterized by unconventional thinking and a celebration of creative self-expression. It symbolizes the act of choosing one's own path on both the skateboard and in life.
In my attempt to convey this concept, I endeavored to encapsulate the textures, colors, and the laid-back aesthetic of these particular shoes in my photographs.
