Daytime Use of Electric Lighting -Understanding Usage

The purpose of this research is to identify the following: 1) Analyze the minimum required vertical Illuminance (100 Lux- ANSI/IES) for circadian response, 2) Categorize occupants based on their usage pattern: - Active and Passive Users,  3) Categorize households by 1) Observing Daily Electric Lighting Usage Patterns 2) Observing Seasonal changes in Lighting usage patterns.
The results derived from the study encourage responsible behaviors toward using artificial lights to improve building energy efficiency and improvising occupant well-being by providing insight into maintaining needed illuminance levels to carry out tasks. The study can support the design of automation systems in Lighting control and inform for shifting behaviors using artificial light.
