Design Aid of Modified Compound Fink Truss for Industry.
Design Aid for typified design of steel pitched roof trusses for Industrial buildings using IS800:2007 and IS875 part 3:2015

Steel is the most prevalent construction material, which has been used in the construction industry for a long time. Steel has been a material of choice because it is a cost-effective material in addition to its versatility, sustainability, and flexibility. Steel is also considered as “green” product as it is 100% recyclable. Design of steel structures demands intensive understanding of the fundamental principles relating to the analyses of steel structural elements and their connections. The iterative nature of design of steel structural elements involves rigorous calculations comprising mathematical formulae to determine various forces, moments, stresses, strains, deflections, etc. Hence, working out such designs is time-consuming and tedious.
This research project has been proposed to assist structural designers involved in steel pitched roof truss design, with an aim to provide simpler, faster approach to steel truss design in terms of handbook i.e., ready to use designs for steel truss as per limit state method and latest Indian standards. Here, modified compound fink truss is adopted for the study with varying parameters such as span of truss, pitch of truss, spacing of truss and wind zone. Purlin spacing is kept as 1.4m and column height up to eaves is kept as 10m.
The truss configuration has been arrived after many trials to achieve optimized design with minimum structural weight using steel hollow sections as per IS800-2007 and IS875 part-3 2015.
