HH5-Contemporary Practice in South Asia

The idea of a Global South exists as a direct response to the existence of an influential Global North. As such, it attempts to seek legitimacy and establish itself as an equally worthy other. An overarching theme of the development of the architectural discourse of the South has been in response to developments in the North. This essay questions these constructs and goes on to ask if the architecture of the global south can be divorced from its need to establish its authenticity.
