I spent all my time of the internship living on different sites that Abari had undertaken, which allowed me to talk to and understand how people perceive and use bamboo indigenously. Materials like both bamboo and mud come very intuitively to them, there is no ‘formula’ to make the most stable bamboo structure or the perfect earth wall, conditions on-site, physical or otherwise change how the material is used and hence, the architecture is in its true sense, inspired and derived from the site.
