Materiality and History: Hierarchy in Jamshedpur

The study here explores various ways of framing history and unpacks the underlying key ideas of each to further undertake the analysis of specific sites using the theoretical framework of the respective author. In one of the studies, we looked at the case of Jamshedpur, a company driven town and its development, discussing the professionals and labor in relation to the catalytic elements, stratification, and its hierarchies in the 20th century. By the mid-twentieth century, the loop of transactions had complexified enough to make it a cyclic loop, which is to say that the urban meshwork became autocatalytic, shown here.
