Jardin Metropolitan

The studio is called "Jardin Metropolitan", which literally means a metropolitan garden. With the rapid growth of the cities, the alarming question all the cities possess today is the balance between the overgrowing Metropolis and the Gardens (Greens) within a city. Where farmland is being lost in the name of development at an alarming rate it is imperative that future growth seriously consider food security as a priority. It aims at an understanding of the existing urban planning, its consequences and potential in further urban design. As Urban Designers and Architects can we find sustainable solutions to strike a balance of the changing needs of people? We were divided in different groups of 6/7 people each, wherein we had to choose different sites of about 10-15km stretch in the peripheral areas of Toulouse. Every group analysed the urban issues and opportunities and came up with different urban planning strategies and proposals. Further for our individual work we had to pick a smaller site within the studies area and come with the Master plan and an Urban Insert within our proposed plan.
