The objective was to gain a comprehensive understanding of materials, structural forces, and manufacturing techniques in furniture design. The course focuses on applying this knowledge to furniture elements, materials, joineries, and optimizing sizing. Additionally, emphasis is placed on learning load distribution, addressing sensitive design issues, and developing an intuitive approach to designing furniture using common materials. The deliverables encompass analyzing furniture pieces, documenting material properties and manufacturing processes, as well as presenting optimized furniture designs.
