Hybrid Grounds

Kleinwabern’s current urban structure with a mix of dense residential areas, industrial zones, old farms, and garden neighborhoods lack cohesion. At the urban edge of Kleinwabern, Bern, Switzerland, a stark disconnect exists between residential neighborhoods and the expansive agricultural land. Dominated by monoculture and limited by a lack of manpower, these fields remain inaccessible, underutilized, and detached from community life. This project seeks to bridge that gap—transforming the edge into a vibrant, participatory, and diverse landscape where agriculture becomes walkable, inclusive, and organically integrated into the rhythms of everyday life.
