The elective required the students to make a portfolio comprising of some of their previous works using their previously acquired skills as well as the ones learned in the semester in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. This portfolio includes my works from: a) Studio-3: Spatial Narratives by Ar. Yatin Pandya. The studio was “design a memorial exploring the experiential aspects of architecture”.b) Semester 3 Elective: Packaging and Branding by Anand Viswanathan where we had to conceptualize a brand and consequently design the packaging. My studio site was on a Japanese island famous for its numerous Buddhist and Shinto shrines scattered along the winding path amidst the green trees. The studio project, a memorial on Indomitable Human Spirit, projects the vision of aiming for the skies on the wings of technology with roots deeply embedded in the traditional arts and culture of our society. The brand conception in Packaging and Branding mainly brought out the essence of Japanese living. The graphics used reflect the rich cultural heritage of Japan. Effort has been made to synthesize the culture with the new so as to identify with the new generation. Since both the projects have been inspired by Japanese culture and heritage, I have chosen an overall theme of Japanese origin for the portfolio.
