Rangiri Dambulla, Sri Lanka; Pattanam, Kerala

The Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temples were studied as part of case studies of Archaeological Sites. The cave temples are a vivid example of Sri Lankan Expression, depicting the Southern Asia Temple Concept. It lies within a 25 hectare site, with a composite layered nature going back 4 millenia, from the megalithic period to the present day. The cave temples are a part of the pilgrimage journey of devout Buddhists from all over the world.The Pattanam excavations revealed a missing link of trade between the Alexandria, Egypt and the Muziris port. These excavations were affected by the floods in 2018.
