Indian towns and cities are developing at an unprecedented pace and even the smaller cities and towns are on the verge of development. Major development projects are being undertaken in these places and this is the right time when the extent of heritage in such cities is identified. In the planning and development of Indian towns, heritage assets are routinely disregarded, and the value of unprotected cultural heritage assets is yet to be recognised in the tier two and three cities. To have a better understanding of the present scenario in the tier two and three cities of India, the case of Bulandshahr has been taken up in this study.
